I Bought a B18C for the EG6 — Let the Build Begin

What’s up guys, been a minute since I’ve updated you on personal projects, but trust me, this one’s been brewing for a while.

I couldnt make a move until that blue whale of a car (350z) finally sold. The moment it did I could pull the trigger….

I’ve finally picked up a B18C for the EG6 Civic.

Yep, the DREAM engine for me, from the JDM DC2 Integra Type R — and if you know, you know. This isn’t just any swap — this is the kind of engine that completely transforms the driving experience of a hatch like the EG. High-revving, naturally aspirated, VTEC screaming. My dream.

Before you say it, yes I know its a bit dirty & the rocker cover looks ass, but please remember these engines are old now. Youre probably old, im old ! Fk where did time go. What I paid for this I’ve agreed with my amazing youtube audience i will tell them the next time it features in a video, which should be all going to plan in a couple of weeks. If you want to know all the ideas for the build ahead, check this video :

Why a B18C?

I’ve always had a soft spot for the EG6. Light chassis, timeless shape, and just begging for something special under the bonnet. I toyed with a few engine options — K-swaps are the obvious modern go-to — but there’s something raw and visceral about a properly built B-series car that hits different. It’s period-correct, it’s proven, and honestly… it’s what I always imagined this car having.

The B18C ticks every box:

  • 197hp out of the box (probably lost a few over the years lets be honest)

  • Revs to 8,200+

  • LSD-equipped S80 gearbox

  • JDM heritage and bulletproof reliability

It’s an engine that rewards driving — not just speed, but feel. And that’s what I want this build to be about.

The Vision for the Build

I’m not slapping this engine in and calling it a day. This is going to be a full 6TWO1 EG6 build — clean, functional, and track-ready. No corners cut. The plan so far:

  • Full engine refresh with new seals, belts, and OEM+ goodies

  • Wire tuck and engine bay resto (to a point)

  • Spoon inspired touches

  • New Coilovers, check all bushings to make sure the chassis is stiff

  • New Tyres for them beaaautiful Volks

  • And of course, a VTEC crossover that’ll make your ears smile or bleed, or both

It’s not about chasing numbers, to be fair with me it never has been. I dont do this to impress other fellas. I’m just here for fun & thats what this build is for — it’s about building something that feels alive and really, really fun. A car you want to drive.

What This Means to Me

I’ve been around Hondas for a long time now — they were my gateway into deep car building. And the EG6 was always the car. So to now be building one with a B18C under the bonnet, at a time when we’ve got the S15 Refresh on the go, track days awaiting….feels like things have come full circle.

This car’s going to be built right here, in-house at my unit, or 6TWO1 HQ. You’ll see every step of the process — the wins, the challenges, the late nights. Whether it ends up being a pure track toy or something I put back on the road, one thing’s for sure:

This one’s personal and I cannot wait to get stuck in.

Thanks for reading, and if you're into this kind of build, make sure you’re following along — I’ll be sharing regular updates on Instagram, YouTube, and right here. The EG6 chapter is just getting started again, and I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next
